Concerns about the accuracy of political information have led to a proliferation of fact-checking sites like Politifact and FactCheck.org. So why do candidates continue to campaign on hazy half-truths? Journalist Eric Black says more accurate facts injected into the political discussion is a very good thing. But it doesn’t make as much difference as it should because so many voters are interested mostly in “facts” that enable them to keep believing what they already believe.
