A bloody Monday morning in Minneapolis. The Star Tribune’s Tim Harlow reports: “Six people were wounded in two shootings early Monday in the downtown Minneapolis Warehouse District, police said. … Investigators looking into the shootings believe they were gang-related, said spokeswoman Sgt. Catherine Michal. … Shots first rang out shortly before 1:15 a.m. near the First Precinct police station close to the intersection of 4th Street and Hennepin Avenue. Officers responded and found a man shot in a leg and a hand.”
No experience necessary. MPR’s Brian Bakst writes: “When Democrats and Republicans picked their nominees to replace retiring GOP U.S. Rep. John Kline in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District, they set up a campaign seldom seen in Minnesota — a pairing of candidates who have never held political office.”
Sounds like a dare. KSTP’s Josh Rosenthal reports that Minnesota election officials aren’t too concerned about election hackers: “…Minnesota’s statewide voter registration system has never been hacked, as far as [the Minnesota secretary of state] know[s]. … [The spokesperson for the secretary of state] said it’s important to realize that Minnesota’s election system has ‘robust electronic protections.’ There are ‘a series of manual verification steps.’ The state also ‘retains paper backups.’ … This means that if there is a discrepancy in voting totals, you can always go back to the paper trail.”
Another Lynx championship on the way? The AP’s Stacy Bengs reports (via MPR): “With another decisive sequence, the Minnesota Lynx have put themselves in position to repeat as WNBA champions. … Maya Moore scored 20 points and Natasha Howard added 17 to help the Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 82-67 on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep of the semifinal series.”
