Sloppy snow ahead for Twin Cities this evening

Sorry about your commute. The Star Tribune’s Tim Harlow reports: “Rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet — a large swath of southwestern, northwestern and central Minnesota will see it all on Tuesday as the first of two separate storm systems moves across the state. … The second storm has the potential to drop 3 to 5 inches of snow across the Twin Cities and eastern Minnesota from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said.”

Maybe an opportunity for some learning. MPR’s Riham Feshir reports: “The Osseo School District has identified the student responsible for racist graffiti at one of its schools. … The day after the elections, messages included profanities against African-Americans and a ‘Make America Great Again’ quote were found in a Maple Grove High School bathroom. … Citing privacy laws, school officials declined to provide additional details, but said they’ve taken appropriate disciplinary action.”

Not all Targets are the same. For River Front Times, Amanda Woytus writes of a Brooklyn Target: “For me, this Target is the only other locale in the city that inspires the same feeling of offense and claustrophobia as Times Square, and because the store is so different from the friendly, ultra-convenient Midwestern ones my friends and family are used to, it’s almost more shocking than the carnival in the middle of the City That Never Sleeps. ‘You know what?’ I’ll ask my visitors. ‘I think we’re out of toilet paper at home. Do you mind if we stop by Target?’ Unaware, they agree, and we’re off.”

That’s a spicy post. City Pages’ Mecca Bos reports: “… [A]s this year’s political climate continues to roil, some companies are refusing to lay low. One such business is the Wisconsin-based company Penzey’s, a 70-outlet spice retailer with stores in 29 states including two in the Twin Cities. … A recent Facebook Post entitled ‘Cooking Trumps Racism’ has created an internet firestorm, with the post now up to almost 10,000 reactions and 4,000 shares. … In it, CEO Bill Penzey asserts that Trump voters ‘just committed the biggest act of racism in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago.’ ”

    Not quite dead

“I’m not quite dead yet. I think I’ll go for a walk.”

“You’re not fooling anyone, you know.”

The “Bring Out Yer Dead” scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, 1975. Still one of my all-time favorite movies.
