Frey plans to reappoint Arradondo as Minneapolis police chief

Rondo retained. The Star Tribune’s Libor Jany reports: “Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey intends to reappoint Medaria Arradondo as the city’s chief of police, giving him command of the department for at least another three years.”

More like meh-mails. The Duluth News Tribune’s Brady Slater reports: “Congressman Rick Nolan was of two minds in his response to the release of Pete Stauber’s campaign emails this week. … On the one hand, Nolan said Wednesday, ‘I thought it was largely a big to-do about very little.’… On the other, the retiring 8th Congressional District representative said of Stauber, ‘He would have been advised to release them rather than being forced to.’”

Minty fresh ordinance. KSTP’s Rebecca Omastiak reports: “A restriction on the sale of flavored tobacco products goes into effect in St. Paul Thursday. … The city council voted a year ago to restrict the sale of flavored tobacco.”

PSA. The AP reports (via MPR): “Enrollment is open for Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace. … Beginning Thursday, Minnesotans can log onto the MNsure website and enroll for coverage. The enrollment deadline for coverage that begins Jan. 1 is Dec. 15. Overall open enrollment ends Jan. 13.”
