A role model, of sorts, for Real-Time Ads

When we launched Real-Time Ads on June 25, I thought I had a brilliant idea — to include Inside MinnPost, a new blog about MinnPost, as one of the beta testers.
The idea was that we would be a role model for how best to advertise on Real-Time Ads.

When we launched Real-Time Ads on June 25, I thought I had a brilliant idea — to include Inside MinnPost, a new blog about MinnPost, as one of the beta testers.

The idea was that we would be a role model for how best to advertise on Real-Time Ads.  What’s the key? Posting new material often, to support the concept that Real-Time Ads are, well, real-time.

Unfortunately, your humble publisher went five days between posts on the Inside MinnPost blog. (Happy Fourth of July to you, too.) As a result, when you clicked to expand the Real-Time Ads widget on the left side of the page, Inside MinnPost was showing up near the bottom, because the ads were in chronological order, most recent at the top. Sort of an anti-role model.

That’s fixed now, of course, because the item you’re reading (or a newer one) is now featured in our Real-Time Ad.

Article continues after advertisement

We have 22 Real-Time Ads beta testers and more on the way — a nice leap from the 14 we launched with — and we’re all figuring this out together. One of the newest is Jason DeRusha of WCCO-TV, who is advertising his blog.

We still have some spots left, since our capacity is 32. There’s no charge for advertising during the beta-testing stage. If you’re interested, or want more information, email us at adinfo [at] minnpost [dot] com.
