I know you’re wondering if MinnPost had a great time at Carousel Park at the State Fair on Sunday.

So I’m filing a report.

As part of the 25th anniversary Minnesota Community Pride competition and celebration, we produced several hours of live public affairs programming with Roxane Battle as emcee.

Highlights:

  • MinnPost Washington correspondent Cynthia Dizikes interviewed Rep. Keith Ellison, who drew an enthusiastic crowd interested in his views on health care reform and how President Obama is being treated by the public. (No worse than George Washington.)
  • Jay Weiner interviewed Vikings rep Lester Bagley about the team’s long fight for a new stadium and prospects in the current political and economic environment.
  • Eric Black joined other MinnPost journalists for segments on the Franken-Coleman recount, the 2010 Governor’s race, and the Internet’s impact on political journalism. (Ink-stained wretch he may be, but this guy talks like a broadcast personality.)

In case you missed this, check out the videos and photo gallery.

The best part of my day?

Riding in a truck bed in the 2 p.m. daily parade with MinnPosters and Community Pride reps — a marching band and Boy Scouts in front of us and horses and ponies behind — waving to thousands of people lined up along the route.
