Happy New Year from MinnPost

It has been quite an end of year for MinnPost.

Starting with Give to the Max Day on Nov. 17, we’ve raised more than $34,000 in end-of-year donations. And we’ve added more than 135 new members during the same period.

New York Times media columnist David Carr recently described MinnPost (and one other local news site) as “experiments that seem less tentative all the time.”

On our third New Year’s Eve, we’re certainly feeling less tentative. We’re more confident that we’re moving toward member-supported sustainability, toward being a strong part of the media landscape serving Minnesota now and into the future.

We are tremendously grateful for the support so many people have already given us.

But every extra dollar we raise now helps sustain the level of reporting, analysis and editing you’ve come to expect from MinnPost…helps keep great journalists writing for the site…helps keep a full-time reporter in Washington…helps cover politics, government, media, health, science, education, business, the arts and all the topics that make a difference to the quality of life and democracy for all of us.

If you haven’t made an end-of-year donation yet, and you believe in the kind of high-quality journalism we’re providing, there’s still time to help and get a tax deduction for 2009.

By 11:59 tonight, just click here to go directly to our end-of-year campaign page. Thanks to GiveMN, there are no fees, so 100% of your donation goes to MinnPost.

Heartfelt thanks for your support. Have a happy and safe New Year celebration, and we’ll see you in 2010.
