Help spread the word about MinnPost

It’s campaign season, and while we’re covering everyone else’s campaign, MinnPost is launching its own — to get more Minnesotans to know about us.

You can help spread the word by placing one of our signs on your lawn, or — if you have no lawn — in your window.

The message: “I listen to MPR®, but I read”

If you’re a MinnPost reader, chances are you do listen to Minnesota Public Radio. And we believe other MPR listeners will enjoy MinnPost, too, once they give it a try. With these lawns signs, our current readers can encourage new readers.

To get your sign, register here. You can pick up your sign (and a bumper sticker and button, too) at two locations in Minneapolis, or at MinnPost’s Carousel Park stage at the State Fair Sunday, or from MinnPost’s mobile campaign headquarters, which will make scheduled stops in various neighborhoods. Details on the sign-up page.

If you’re outside the metro, or feel you can’t get to any of our pickup spots, you can make your own signs. Click here to download a high resolution PDF of the sign.

Feel free to take a photo of your sign on a lawn or in a window, with or without people, and email it to, with some explanation for a caption. We’ll publish some of the photos, and give prizes for the best ones.

Too bad they will apparently not be available outside the metro area. I realize that sending them via mail would probably be cost prohibitive. Maybe you could make available a high-quality jpeg and encourage people outstate to make their own?

I agree with Jim. I am unable to get to the pick up locations too, but would gladly print off something to hang up.

Jim and Melissa: I hear rumors that the MinnPost HQ vehicle making various trips around Greater MN in the near future. Printing off the sign is a great idea. Also, register (link above) with our zip code, and then we’ll alert you if the HQ car is going to be coming near you.

I hope the executives at Minnesota Public Radio are paying MinnPost a bundle of listener-donated dollars for the product placement on these signs.

Fooey on that. Mark me down as preferring something that proclaims loyalty to the Minneapolis Public Schools’ jazz/education station and its North High School announcers at 88.5 on the dial:

    I listen to KBEM-FM
    but I read
