The Bush Foundation has awarded MinnPost a grant of $80,000 for a year-long series of stories  “to add to the public’s knowledge and appreciation of courageous leadership around the state, by people trying to change the way important things get done.”

The grant is part of the Bush Foundation’s work to expand the capacity of communities to solve tough problems.

In discussing this concept with the Bush Foundation, we said that our series “would be groundbreaking journalism, because while media commonly write about leaders, they do not often or systematically do it through the lens of the challenges of leadership.”

Planning for the series will begin immediately, and the stories are expected to appear over the course of a year beginning in June.   The project will be directed by Susan Albright, co-managing editor, with Sharon Schmickle as the principal reporter.
