Supplementing our online coverage of the battle for and against the marriage amendment, MinnPost presents a face-to-face discussion of this important issue and an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.
Please join us Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. for The Marriage Amendment: The Meaning Behind the Messages. This is the inaugural event of MinnPost Asks Presented by LearningLife, a new discussion series produced in partnership with the College of Continuing Education.
The event features MinnPost journalist Beth Hawkins, University of Minnesota Communications Studies Professor Ed Schiappa, and Richard Carlbom, executive director of Minnesotans United for All Families.
The discussion will focus on messaging being used in Minnesota and elsewhere by groups fighting for and against the amendment. Video clips will be shown and analyzed.
An invitation to participate was extended to Minnesota for Marriage, the pro-amendment coalition, and to the Minnesota Catholic Conference. These invitations were declined but remain open. Other pro-amendment groups were invited to participate but did not respond.
The program will be held at the Continuing Education and Conference Center on the U of M St. Paul campus.
Tickets are $15 for MinnPost and Learning Circle members, $25 for others. Purchase tickets online or call 612-624-4000.
