We’ve closed the books on our fall sustaining member drive, and we couldn’t be happier! We added 110 new sustaining members during the drive, bringing us to 168 since the last drive. So with nearly three months to go this year, we’ve already blown past our goal of having more than 1,200 sustaining members and we’re well on our way to 1,300 sustainers.
Nineteen additional people made one-time donations during the drive, and we have acquired more than 3,600 total donors since we launched five years ago. Of our new sustainers, about half chose to give monthly and half annually. And twenty percent of our new donors live outside the Twin Cities metro area. One of a handful of new sustainers from outside Minnesota is Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post.
As our member numbers have grown since our first sustaining member drive, we’ve realized that not everyone wants to donate electronically or automatically, but we believe all our loyal donors should be recognized as sustainers. So, whether you are signed up for recurring donations or you have donated for at least the past three years, we consider you a sustaining member of MinnPost.
Our most sincere thanks to all MinnPost supporters. We literally couldn’t do this without you.
And as the newest player on the MinnPost team, I would like to offer a personal thank you for all the help and guidance I received from everyone on the excellent staff at MinnPost world headquarters—I’m so proud to work with such a talented group of people!
If you didn’t donate or become a member during our drive, you can sign up anytime—not just for our great member benefits, but for the warm-fuzzy feeling that comes with directly contributing to MinnPost’s success.
