Time to party — MinnPost is turning six

Those of you with good memories may recall Nov. 8, 2007, MinnPost’s first day of publication.

In those days the site had a different look. The logo was in an old-fashioned font called American Typewriter. And the tagline was A Thoughtful Approach to News.

We’ve dropped the tagline but not the mission it represented. And from these recent reader comments, it seems like we’re doing a pretty good job:

  • MinnPost gives me news, information and insights about the media, public affairs and politics that I find nowhere else.
  • Even though I no longer live in MN, I do continue to value the style of focused reporting practiced at MinnPost — as a counterbalance to the more-established print media.
  • I respect the writers and staff of MinnPost and look forward to being a regular reader and sustaining member. Our community needs to have an honest newspaper! Thank you for your work!

If you value the kind of journalism offered by MinnPost, we hope you’ll join us for our sixth anniversary celebration on Thursday, Nov. 7, 5:30 to 8:00 pm at Solera.

The party will start with a complimentary glass of Solera’s famous sangria. Then paella and other delicious Spanish-themed fare, a live jazz band, anniversary cake, a silent auction and raffle, and cash bar. A few trivia questions and a brief update on what’s new at MinnPost. Plus lots of news junkies to talk to.

Tickets are just $25 for members and their guests, $35 for all others. Buy yours by Friday, Nov. 1.
