Video: Rep. Keith Ellison at MinnRoast sings, ‘Who needs Rush Limbaugh when you got online news?’

Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota’s 5th District made his debut on the MinnRoast stage with a parody version of “People Get Ready,” Rolling Stone magazine’s 24th greatest song of all time.

Channeling Curtis Mayfield and accompanying himself on guitar, in just three minutes Ellison covered topics in the news and people like Michele Bachmann, Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz, Tom Emmer, the Koch Brothers and Rush Limbaugh.

Videographer Steve Date captured the full song for your enjoyment. Watch for more video excerpts coming soon from hilarious performances on the MinnRoast stage.

    Amateurs

Amateur guitar players tend to do a song in the key that’s easy for them to play, not that’s in the right key for their voice. His coach on The Voice would say, “Why don’t we capo it up a few steps? Don’t be afraid to explore your upper range.”

But Rep. Ellison is sticking his neck out just being up there, so good on him.
