MinnPost, one of the most successful online nonprofit news organizations in the country, is seeking a writer to cover K-12 education.
The position requires someone who can pretty much do it all: break news, write exciting (or at least not-boring) explainers, and deliver deep-dives on education issues that matter to Minnesotans, stories that provide context and analysis on everything from school board meetings to national education policies, with special focus on efforts to improve outcomes for all students.
That will mean keeping abreast of developments at the Legislature as well as finding stories from inside Twin Cities schools.
MinnPost gives its journalists a lot of freedom to find and tell the stories they believe are worth telling. But we also demand a high level of responsibility: You should be comfortable working independently, with a track record of writing compellingly about complicated issues and trends for a knowledgeable and engaged audience. The ability to cut through competing claims and interpret research and data independently is also a major plus.
