In our first FAN Club giveaway, MinnPost Platinum members awarded two weeks’ worth of MinnPost advertising to three deserving Minnesota nonprofits: the Rural Renewable Energy Alliance, Ten Thousand Things Theater Company and VocalEssence.
Competition was tight, with MinnPost members nominating 27 different organizations that collectively represent every corner of the state and the full spectrum of nonprofit work.
Here’s a little bit about this quarter’s winning organizations, each of which will receive advertising worth up to $1,650:
- The Rural Renewable Energy Alliance, based in Backus, is dedicated to making solar energy accessible to communities of all income levels, and has been pioneering the use of solar energy to address fuel poverty throughout the nation. The organization accomplishes its mission primarily through its Solar Assistance program, which provides residential solar energy systems to low-income families on public energy assistance as a lasting, clean and domestic solution to fuel poverty.
- Ten Thousand Things, based in Minneapolis, brings high-quality theater to people with little access to the wealth of the arts, invigorating classic stories and contemporary plays through vital, open interactions between actors and non-traditional audiences. The theater company stages free performances at homeless shelters, correctional facilities, low-income senior centers, reservations, after-school programs, women’s shelters, and locations in rural Minnesota, and performs for paying audiences at Open Book in Minneapolis and Bedlam Lowertown in St. Paul.
- VocalEssence, based in Minneapolis, is a choral music organization that works to strengthen the Minnesota community through thrilling musical experiences. The organization engages people of all ages and cultures through its live performances, school programs, elder learning initiatives, and choral arts advocacy projects.
As a nonprofit ourselves, MinnPost launched the FAN Club (Free Ads for Nonprofits) program to support our community and those who work to make it better, and to create a new way to thank our members for their ongoing financial support.
Our next FAN Club giveaway will take place in October. Voting will again be open to MinnPost Platinum members, who give MinnPost the equivalent of $20 or more per month. If you would like to participate, become a MinnPost Platinum member today. (MinnPost business staff and other members of their households are not eligible to vote.)
