MinnPost is excited to announce the hiring of our newest staff member: Jessica Lee, who will be reporting on local government starting in early July.

Jessica just wrapped up a three-year run at The Seattle Times, where she wrote about everything from city government to crime, while also helping the newspaper build a foundation for more compelling online storytelling.

Before joining the Times, Jessica interned with the Star Tribune and Minnesota Public Radio while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Minnesota, where she also served as managing editor of The Minnesota Daily. She’s also contributed to U.S. News and World Report and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in media studies through the University of Nebraska’s online journalism program.

For MinnPost, Lee will focus her reporting on covering local government issues in Minneapolis and St. Paul. She can be reached at jlee@minnpost.com, and you can follow her on twitter at @byjessielee.
