A crowd of 115 MinnPost members and readers gathered Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, at Elsie’s in northeast Minneapolis to hear from MinnPost reporters Peter Callaghan, Greta Kaul and Jessica Lee about the 2018 midterm elections.

The reporters presented maps showing how the DFL focused their campaigning on suburban districts and flipped enough seats to gain the majority in the state House. They also addressed campaign spending by outside groups and how those expenditures may (or may not) have had any significant impact on voting results.

Questions from the audience touched on many subjects, including what legislation can be successful with a divided government, partisan trends of suburban voters and re-districting following the 2020 census.

The conversation was moderated by MinnPost editor Andy Putz. The MinnPost Social series — presented by RBC Wealth Management — allows MinnPost journalists to share their insights with the public. The events are free for MinnPost members and $10 for nonmembers.
