Here’s the scoop

We want to say a huge thank you to the donors who increased or started their sustaining membership during this drive, and also to those who made one-time donations!

During MinnPost’s summer member drive, we had the goal of inspiring 100 new or increased sustaining donors to bolster our nonprofit newsroom. Monthly and annual sustainers make up over half of our donor base and provide a reliable source of funding throughout the year.

We want to say a huge thank you to the donors who increased or started their sustaining membership during this drive, and also to those who made one-time donations!  While we didn’t quite reach our goal, every single donor helps build the foundation of support that our paywall-free journalism relies on.

Now, onto the important business. During this member drive, we asked you what your favorite spot was for ice cream in Minnesota, and, boy, did you all deliver. We had over 80 responses, with 40 ice cream locations across the state represented.

And the winner is… Pumphouse Creamery in south Minneapolis! In case you’re like the MinnPost staff and want some recommendations for places to visit, here’s a chart of the places with the most votes:

Thanks to everyone who supported MinnPost during our drive. In case you wanted to donate but didn’t have the chance, it’s not too late! Donations are welcome all year round to keep our newsroom running strong.

Here are some of the reasons that folks donated during the summer drive:

“Unbiased, accurate news is very important to me. Happy to support great journalism. “ Connor, Minneapolis

“It is an important independent news source that deserves community support.” Anonymous, Golden Valley

“Because great journalism is always worth supporting” Chelsey, Brainerd

Thanks again to all who stepped up to support MinnPost this month!
