As construction continues on the new Minnesota Twins’ Target Field stadium, project manager Dan Mehls takes a break from work to give a tour. Progress has been right on schedule, said Mehls. Glass is being installed around the pro shop, all major areas for concrete have been poured, and about one-third of the stone panels surrounding the stadium are in place. A portion of the ballpark is being built on top of the Interstate 494 bridge, allowing cars to drive under, while another section of the park will extend over the highway — providing an excellent view for those season ticketholders. There will also be a connection for commuters to catch the Northstar Rail line. The stadium is scheduled to open in April 2010.
