Gov. Pawlenty’s proposed cuts may leave some artists looking for jobs

When Minnesota arts advocates held an event at the Minnesota History Center last Tuesday to gather support for continued state funding of the arts, House  Speaker Margaret Anderson-Kelliher, along with MN Citizens for the Arts director Sheila Smith, Sen. Richard Cohen, Rep. Mary Murphy and Sen. David Tomassoni, spoke to a crowded auditorium. Gov. Pawlenty, hoping to alleviate the state budget deficit, had proposed cutting funding to the State Arts Board.
