Today’s guest on ABC’s “The View” was none other than former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, further discussing the use of waterboarding and the issue of torture. Actually, it was more of a debate with co-host Elisabeth Haselbeck. Haselbeck even threatens to put ‘The Body’ in a full nelson when he doesn’t agree with her view that waterboarding was needed to extract information of a terrorist plot from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Ventura strongly states that torture is illegal and should never be used.
“We only seem to waterboard Muslims,” Ventura fired back, then asking the group to name someone else that the United States has waterboarded. “It’s a good thing I’m not the president, because I would prosecute the people who did it, I would prosecute the people who ordered it, and they would all go to jail.”

the news is reporting 4 terrorists where arrested in new york city – they where going to bomb a snyagogue and had stinger missles to shoot down air guard aircraft. do you think we should waterboard these terrorist to potentually save american lives. if we do not waterboard these terrorists as a result americans are killed who would you hold responsible for the deaths.
What an odd interpretation of the policy implications of this ongoing case. The four suspects were caught by federal law enforcement. They were apprehended with inert “stinger” missiles and “explosives” furnished by our law enforcement via an informant.
These dim-witted recidivists who decided to wrap their violent and anti-social proclivities in the mantel of “jihad” will be held in custody here in the United States while they await trial in federal criminal court.
Given the initial reports of the evidence arrayed against them, it’s not hard to imagine they will likely be found guilty and then sentenced to very long sentences in federal prison here in the United States.
No torture involved. No extra-legal measures required. Due process and the rule of law will have worked.
