Smart electrical-grid technology could brighten the country

University of Minnesota electrical engineering professor Massoud Amin explains how the current electrical grid and delivery system are outdated and largely inefficient. With retrofitted power lines, the use of monitoring sensors and the creation of more renewable energy sources, Amin hopes to see a new smart grid developed. This smart grid would save money, prevent blackouts and be better defended against attacks.
