Center for Victims of Torture turns 25

The Minneapolis based nonprofit Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) was the first of its kind in the United States when it opened in 1985.

The Minneapolis based nonprofit Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) was the first of its kind in the United States when it opened in 1985. It now operates offices in Washington, D.C.; Jordan; Sierra Leone; and the Democratic Republic of Congo,  where it works to treat survivors of physical and emotional trauma caused by torture.

TPT’s “Almanac” looks at what the center does to help those refugees who seek its services and interviews a woman named Harriet who was treated by the CVT.
