Minnesota Special Olympics athlete takes gold at USA National Games

Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Vandenburgh from Oak Grove competed in the 2010 Special Olympics National Games held last week in Nebraska. Vandenburgh is a pentathlete, which means he competes in five track and field events, such as the long jump and shot put. Even though they say he wins a lot, his family and coach are inspired by his positive attitude and desire to achieve to be better. A total of 94 athletes from Minnesota competed at the national games, earning a total of 91 medals.
