Are organic and natural the same thing?

One common question people have about eating organic is whether there is a difference between items labeled organic and items labeled natural. Meg Moynihan of the Minnesota Department of Agricutlure addresses the question.

In the United States, organic farmers are prohibited from using genetically modified seeds, antibiotics and hormones. Federal rules also prohibit the use of most synthetic pesticides and herbicides, and require practices that conserve soil and water and promote animal welfare.
