Austin middle school earns national attention for its grading system

Students at Ellis Middle School in Austin, Minn., now get two grades per class. One grade is based on each student’s knowledge of coursework, while the other grade factors in the student’s behavior and effort to learn.

School Principal Katie Berglund explains why the school made the change and how they hope it will lead to a more standardized grading system from teacher to teacher.
