Rep. Giffords discusses threats in March interview

Arizona Rep.

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot Saturday morning in a rampage that left six people dead and 14 wounded, spoke to MSNBC in March about the threats her office received.

While it is certainly eerie to hear Giffords discuss the violent timbre of political debate — especially in light of this weekend’s horrifying events — what is more striking is that she does not villainize a single party or movement, but calls on all community leaders to uphold a higher standard of discourse. Something to keep in mind as national attention and media coverage swirl around this tragedy.

Giffords remains in critical condition.
