Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak made an appearance on ‘Fox and Friends’ on Monday in advance of the start of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC. In the clip, Rybak defends President Obama’s record by arguing that, in a number of areas, Americans are better off than they were four years ago.

  1. Kudos to RT

He gave a straight answer to a straight question.

And why not? In RT’s own words, Obama has focused on increasing the size of government and spending bundles of cash…what more could the leftist mayor of a leftist dominated city ask for? Why do Obama’s senior advisers squirm like banana slugs in a salt mine when the question is asked? Say it, Axlerod… loud and proud: “We’re having the time of our lives!!”

For conservatives, the best part of the interview came with the teaser Grechen laid out when RT finished.. “Speaking of unfortunate timing, the $16 Trillion debt…” We all got a nice chuckle out of the irony.

    1. Things were so much better the last time we fell off the cliff – in 2008 under the Republicans.

  2. “squirm like banana slugs in a salt mine”

Happens a lot, Mr. Swift, especially when questions like this are asked:

    1. Who saved the auto industry and millions of jobs?

    2. Do Ryan/Romney economic plans point to an improvement in economic conditions? These plans will lead to depression, higher unemployment, AND grow our deficit for the immediate future. Only when the magic happens and an economic recovery occurs, at least according to these fairy tales.

It is always amusing when someone complains about the deficit, to which the GOP were, without argument, major contributors. Usually these complaints are not followed by concrete solutions to fix problems. Cut spending? Specifically, how?

    Crickets.

    1. Thank you Bill!

It would be a dream come true to have the opportunity to personally embarrass the leftist that had the ill considered decision to publicly debate the simple-minded Democrat talking points Robert Reich parrots in the link you’ve provided.

Of course, that dream will, in a way, come true when Joe Biden tries it against Paul Ryan. Going to be high times for lovers of reasoned, logical, fact based takedowns.

I do hope Joe brings up the GM bailout, Bill…perhaps he will have an answer for how GM will repay the the $53 dollars per share Obama paid for a stock that is currently trading at $21 before it goes completely bankrupt.

Also, while I share your anger with GWBush’s decision to spend like a Democrat, it is probably ill advised for fans of Obama to bring that subject up:

“National Debt has increased more under Obama than under Bush”

“The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.”

Robert Reich was, evidently, unavailable for comment….
