Sens. Reinert and Miller introduce ‘Purple Caucus’ to promote bipartisan cooperation

The caucus seeks to satisfy constituents who ask why the parties can’t work together.

Sens. Roger Reinert (DFL-Duluth) and Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) shared a podium on Monday to announce the formation of a “Purple Caucus” at the state Legislature. The caucus will look for areas of bipartisan compromise and agreement and is a response, the legislators say, to constituents’ complaints about the inability of politicians of the two major political parties — whether they are in Washington, D.C. or St. Paul, to work together.
