Schools throughout Minnesota, including ISD 196 in Apple Valley, are increasingly looking to local farms to supply students with fresh food for school lunches. As JoAnne Berkenkamp of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy explains in the video below (produced by MN2020), schools benefit from working with farmers not just in terms of the great food they can provide their students, but also through increased student participation in the lunch program and a stronger local economy.
