Minnesota hotdish: the documentary

A 30-minute program explores every aspect of this Minnesota tradition.

In terms of defining Minnesota culinary culture, few foods rise to the level of hotdish. In “Minnesota hotdish: A love story,” (produced for KSMQ public television) documentarian Maria Bartholdi traces the history of the hotdish phenomenon, examines the dish’s nutritional merits (and demerits), and features many versions of the dish, from church basements to the Haute Dish restaurant in downtown Minneapolis to “Hotdish on a Stick” at the State Fair.
