An official Minnesota pastime?

Minnesota state senators weigh in on what the state’s official pastime should be.

Senate Media Services was at the Minnesota State Fair this year, ambushing unsuspecting visiting senators with the question: “What should Minnesota’s official state pastime be?” Not surprisingly, hockey got a lot of votes, but some senators went a little farther afield, like Olmsted County’s Sen. Carla Nelson, who answered, “reading.” And then there was Sen. David Senjem: “Going to the lake and sitting at a table and having a beer.”
