St. Paul celebrates Open Streets on University Ave.

The event was held as a “thank you” to businesses who have put up with light rail construction over the past few years.

On Sunday, the city of St. Paul celebrated its first Open Streets — a festival that closes a road to automotive traffic in favor of pedestrians and cyclists. The city hosted the event on University Ave., partially a thank-you to businesses who have been waiting out the construction of light rail along that street.
