Lane Brown, invoking Danny Boyle’s new movie, “Yesterday,” tells the story of Paul McCartney’s move out of the home shared by the other Beatles in December 1963, and into the West London town house of the Asher family. The Ashers’ son, Peter, a former child actor, was performing with a teen named Gordon Waller at the time. Asher, 75, shares memories of John Lennon coming over for writing sessions, and of his mother being the first person to hear “Yesterday.” McCartney gave Peter and Gordon their first single, “A World Without Love,” which shot to No. 1 worldwide, and knocked “Can’t Buy Me Love” off the top of the U.K. charts. — Corey Anderson, creative director

“Cori Gauff, 15, Seizes Her Moment, Upsetting Venus Williams at Wimbledon,” The New York Times

I have goosebumps looking at this photo of 15-year-old Cori Gauff, the youngest Wimbleon qualifier, seconds after winning against Venus Williams on Monday. Williams is the teen’s idol, and in a post-match interview, Gauff said: “I told her thank you for everything that you did. I wouldn’t be here without you. I always wanted to tell her that.” — Jessica Lee, local government reporter

“School busing in Berkeley during Kamala Harris’ childhood was both voluntary and volatile,” LA Times

As Joe Biden’s history of opposing school busing meant to desegregate schools was thrust into the spotlight at the Democratic debates by California Sen. Kamala Harris, the L.A. Times looks back on what voluntary busing was like in progressive 1970s-era Berkeley when she participated. — Walker Orenstein, workforce and environment reporter

“In Montreal, 70,000 households move on the same day,” CityLab

In honor of Canada Day this week, here’s a strange read about our neighbors to the north. For the better part of three centuries, Canadians have moved on the same moving day. Despite that it’s no longer law, it’s still pretty common for people to move on July 1, making it pretty hard to find a moving truck. — Greta Kaul, data reporter
