WASHINGTON — Michele Bachmann will kick off her presidential bid on Monday at 9 a.m. at a restored mansion in Waterloo, Iowa, then embark on a three-day swing that will take her to early presidential primary states New Hampshire and South Carolina, her campaign announced Wednesday.
Bachmann will make only one stop each in Iowa and New Hampshire, but she will hold five events in South Carolina, which will hold its Republican presidential primary election in mid-to-late February. Stops on the trip include Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Lexington, Greenville and Rock Hill.
The scheduled events seem pretty low-key, with supporter meet-and-greets held in backyards, parks and a restaurant. Her final event on the swing is described as a “National Townhall Meeting,” held at South Carolina’s Winthrop University at 7 p.m. central time on Wednesday.
