An episode of Jeopardy that aired last week had this $800 clue in the category of “All Politics Is Local:”
“In 2011 this congresswoman from Minnesota’s 6th district gave a State of the Union rebuttal on behalf of the Tea Party.”
The correct answer — of course, in the form of a question — came from contestant John Mingey, a physician from Erie, Penn.:
“Who is Michele Bachmann?”
Mingey got that one right, but finished last in the game, notes Eric Ostermeier, who included the game show item in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs blog Smart Politics.
And he notes that, even with a great week that included the debate appearance, rising poll numbers and a gazillion national media references:
…perhaps the peak of Bachmann Domination came when the congresswoman also gained cultural relevancy as her name appeared as the correct answer (that is, question) on the game show Jeopardy!
