Minnesota DFLers join Iowa Dems to blast Pawlenty

A two-state attack on Tim Pawlenty was launched today on the verge of a new Pawlenty RV tour through Iowa, as Minnesota DFLers and Iowa Democrats joined to disparage Pawlenty’s record as Minnesota governor.

They even made a video.

Said Minnesota’s DFL Chair Ken Martin:

“As Minnesotans can tell you, if Tim Pawlenty’s driving the bus, his record shows that his road is not one Americans are going to want to follow. The only results that Tim Pawlenty has delivered are higher property taxes, fewer jobs and services, and a lower quality of education for Minnesotans.

“The facts of Tim Pawlenty’s record in Minnesota tell the real story. Tim Pawlenty left our state facing the largest deficit in Minnesota’s 152-year history, drove up property taxes and fees on middle-class families and small businesses alike, all while making draconian cuts to education and health services that forced some schools into 4-day weeks and kicked hundreds of thousands of our most vulnerable citizens off of their health care.”

Added Sue Dvorsky, Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman:

“As Governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty drove the economy into a ditch — the reality is the road to results for Tim Pawlenty includes the $6.2 billion pot hole he left his successor to fill and ends in higher tuition rates and tax increases for 90 percent of Minnesotans. Now he’s touring Iowa because he wants to take the country down the same road of economic failure he forged in Minnesota.

“Tim Pawlenty has embraced every bad, failed economic idea [he] can find …and now Tim Pawlenty says he doesn’t want to see the debt ceiling raised, going against the advice of every economist in the country … But looking at the economic mess he left in Minnesota, maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised by the disastrous plans he’s embracing.”
