Bachmann and seven others to debate in California

Michele Bachmann and the current crop of GOP presidential hopefuls will meet in California Sept. 7 for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation debate.

This will be Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s first debate as a candidate.

Politico, which is sponsoring the debate with NBC News and the Reagan Foundation, said these candidates will be on the stage at the Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley:

  • Bachmann
  • Perry
  • Herman Cain
  • Newt Gingrich
  • Jon Huntsman
  • Ron Paul
  • Mitt Romney
  • Rick Santorum

All the candidates met the eligibility standards, which require them to be formally announced and received at least a 4 percent rating in one of eight national polls.

Debate moderators will be Brian Williams, the “NBC Nightly News,” anchor and John F. Harris, Politico’s editor in chief. It will be broadcast by MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo and streamed on the Politico site.
