Bachmann ranks very low in South Carolina poll

A Republican presidential poll just out in South Carolina doesn’t look good for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

In the poll by Winthrop University, taken Sept. 11-18, after the Florida debate, registered voters who say they are Republicans, and those who say they definitely will vote in the state’s Republican Party, both prefer Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Mitt Romney by a long shot over the other candidates.

The poll’s tally:

Those “Definitely” planning to vote in 2012 Republican Presidential Primary:

  • Rick Perry 30.5 percent
  • Mitt Romney 27.3
  • Herman Cain 7.7
  • Sarah Palin 5.8
  • Newt Gingrich 5.3
  • Ron Paul 4.2
  • Bachmann 3.5
  • Jon Huntsman 1.6
  • Rick Santorum 1.5

For those who say they are Republicans, or Republican leaners, the results were similar:

  • Rick Perry 29.8 percent
  • Mitt Romney 26.5
  • Herman Cain 6.8
  • Sarah Palin 6.3
  • Newt Gingrich 4.6
  • Ron Paul 4.2
  • Bachmann 4.2
  • Rick Santorum 2.6
  • Jon Huntsman 1.3.
