New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is — still — not running for president.

“Now is not my time,” Christie said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “I have a commitment to New Jersey that I cannot abandon.”

Christie’s finality actually has a reasonably significant impact on the race. When Public Policy Polling included his name in a series of statewide polls this weekend, the non-candidate was polling in the high teens, putting him in second place in North Carolina, Nebraska and West Virginia. Those supporters can now confidently choose another candidate without waiting for Christie’s decision.
