IP closing thoughts from Gov. Carlson

When asked about the many endorsements Tom Horner received (including those from former Governors), and whether they made a difference in the race, Arne Carlson answered, “It’s not the right question.  Seriously.  The question is what can a 3rd party candidate do to win?  They need to come out of the shoot looking to win.  They need to compare and contrast, and then the endorsements will be the window dressing that moves them along.”

I asked Gov. Carlson if we would see him at future IP events.  “There is no IP Party, really,” he said.  “We’ve been too generous on that.  They need to stop the expectation that they will fill all the legislative seats.  And they can’t pretend they have an array of candidates.  It needs to be more focused.”

Shortly after our conversation, Tom Horner conceded his race for Governor.
