Poll: Klobuchar approval rating high

Sen. Amy Klobuchar continues to enjoy widespread support among Minnesotans, according to a new 5 Eyewitness News/SurveyUSA News Poll released by KSTP-TV. The poll, taken March 13-16, shows that 62 percent of Minnesotans approve of the job the DFLer is doing; 32 percent disapprove and 6 per cent aren’t sure.

Sen. Norm Coleman, who will be facing either Al Franken or Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer in November, doesn’t score quite so high. The Republican’s work gets the approval of 52 percent of  the 600 respondents; 42 percent disapprove and 6 percent aren’t sure.

“The poll shows that Coleman’s not on the critical list but he’s not in the comfort zone either,” said Carleton College political science professor Steve Schier. “It suggests that whoever his opponent is will have to explain to voters why they must turn him out of office.”
