Rachel Card Kahler named director of official proceedings for GOP convention

Rachel Card Kahler, a Republican convention veteran and the daughter of former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, will be director of official proceedings for the  Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

She’s the one who’ll handle the minute-by-minute and hour-by-hour logistics of producing the convention, which runs Sept. 1-4. There is also an executive producer. Fifty people will work for Kahler, organizing the parliamentary proceedings and other logistics needed to formally nominate Sen. John McCain officially as the Republican presidential nominee. They’ll also organize the adoption of the rules and platform of the Republican National Committee for the next four years.

Kahler had roles in staging GOP conventions in Houston (1992), San Diego (1996) and Philadelphia (2000) and was deputy director of operations at the 2004 convention in New York.
