John McCain is expected to be accompanied Friday by his drawing card — and running mate — Sarah Palin,  at a “Road to Victory” rally at the Key Hangar of the Anoka County Airport in Blaine Friday.  Free tickets for the noon event are available online here or at any of McCain’s nine Minnesota headquarters.

Crowds for McCain rallies have been substantially higher when he’s accompanied by Palin. For example, although Fox News reported that McCain spoke to a packed house at a morning rally today at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., bloggers at the event said that the 16,000-seat arena was more than half empty.

McCain is expected to be joined by Palin for a rally in Ohio on Wednesday. The two also will campaign together in Michigan and Iowa before coming to Minnesota.

Meantime, no word on when, or if, either half of the Obama-Biden ticket will make a Minnesota appearance soon.

Nick Kimball, spokesman for Obama’s Minnesota campaign, said the campaign makes its schedules only “three or four days out.” But he also said that Minnesota is a “must-win” state for Obama, meaning at least one visit is almost a certainty, based on Sunday’s Star Tribune poll that showed Obama and McCain running even in Minnesota.

  1. Oh thank you so very much Mary, for your invitation to hear more of the same “tax and spend” message from our Mayor.

The people who get things done will be at the Blaine airport.

  2. Sarah Palin the Bridge to Nowhere

Wow you gotta love it when well respected Republican leaders like Chuck Hagel question the qualifications of their VP pick. I can’t imagine why being able to see Russia from your house doesn’t qualify for foreign policy experience.

I guess the extremist views of Palin also doesn’t sit so well with the more middle of the road farm-belt American like Chuck Hagel. Her pork barrel spending in Alaska STILL leads the nation. For every $1 tax dollar collected in Alaska they get $1.84 back from the government. States like Illinois, Connecticut, and even Minnesota get less than a $1.00 back and thus we are funding Alaska and Sarah Palin’s pork. Or how about her views that the government should dictate to a woman what she should do with her body and no mercy for those women who’ve been raped (or raped by their own fathers); no sex education; no condoms; her readiness to get Creationism into the public school curriculum; her venomous anti-environmentalism; her denial that global warming is man-made; her opposition to clean water legislation; her willingness to see the polar bears die off; and her letting hunters gun down wolves and bears from low-flying planes. Thank God Minnesotans are a little more common sense people and won’t buy into these extreme right-wing ideologies.
