Bank donating foreclosed house to neighborhood nonprofits

A house in St. Paul’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood that is partially built but now in foreclosure will be donated by a bank to two nonprofits, city officials will announce Thursday.

The single-family, four-bedroom home at 1583 York Ave. was foreclosed upon by BankCherokee, which will donate it to North East Neighborhood Development Corp. and Dayton’s Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services.

The nonprofits plan to finish construction and sell it.

Officials from the bank and the two nonprofits, along with Mayor Chris Coleman and City Council President Dan Bostrom, will make the formal announcement at 1 p.m. at the house site.
