Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is scheduled to announce an investigation this afternoon into alleged voter registration fraud by someone working with the activist ACORN organization. (ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.)
Allegedly, a batch of registration forms was turned into the elections office outside the 10-day period required by law.
He’s meeting with the press at 2 p.m. at the Hennepin County Government Center to discuss the allegation.
The announcement comes on the same day that a Star Tribune news story noted that there have been no indications of voter registration fraud in Minnesota by ACORN — despite allegations in other states.
