Hennepin County workshops to help homeowners facing foreclosure

In an effort to help homeowners facing foreclosure, Hennepin County Taxpayer Services is conducting free workshops at county libraries.

Now, the presentation is available on video on the Hennepin County website, too.

Three workshops will be held in coming weeks:

• Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pierre Bottineau Library, 55 Broadway St. NE., Minneapolis.

• Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Golden Valley Library, 830 Winnetka Ave. N.

• Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Brooklyn Park Library, 8600 Zane Ave. N.

Foreclosures in Hennepin County increased by 82 percent from 2005 to 2006 and by 84 percent from 2006 to 2007. So far this year, there have been 5,798 foreclosures — a 26 percent increase over 2007, compared with 1,670 in 2005.
