MPR’s fascinating ‘money-tracker’ details candidates’ ad spending

MPR’s staff has collected fascinating data on the dollar amounts spent locally on campaign television commercials. Find it here.

They checked with KARE, KSTP, WCCO, FOX9, WFTC and Comcast Cable Network to come up with the totals, which show the Coleman-Franken U.S. Senate race to be the most expensive, a total of more than $26 million in ad buys, when you include the various committee expenditures.

You can use the data to see who’s spending what on which shows, which can help determine the demographics the various races are courting.

Tom Scheck and Betsy Cole get the byline on the special report.
