St. Paul’s Human Rights Department will be led by veteran city employee Readus Fletcher, at least through the end of the year.
Fletcher, who is currently director of economic opportunity in the city’s Department of Planning and Economic Opportunity, will serve as interim human rights director, replacing Tyrone Terrill, who announced his resignation last week.
Fletcher will continue to run the city’s Minority Business Development Program.
City officials hope to have a permanent human rights director selected by January.
Fletcher, a St. Paul native, has worked for the city since 1975, including a stint as aide to former City Council Member Bill Wilson.
He’s also been a project manager on the recent Disparity Study of the City of Saint Paul and the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority.
