Another Magnuson gets a state post

Gov. Tim Pawlenty has appointed a Magnuson to a state position. No, this isn’t year-old news, from when the governor appointed Eric Magnuson as chief justice of the state Supreme Court.

Jon M. Magnuson was appointed today to the Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training, which establishes qualifications and standards of conduct and regulates education and continuing education programs.
A check with state officials as to whether the Magnusons are related brought this e-mail reply from Jon M.:

“No, I am not related to Chief Justice Magnuson. I do, however have a son named Eric.”

So there’s a good sense of humor joining the POST Board.

Here’s a bit of Magnuson (Jon M.)’s bio:

He’s a peace officer education instructor with the Law Enforcement Program at Alexandria Technical College, a position he has held since 2000.  Previously, he was a full-time instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center at Normandale Community College in Bloomington after 10 years as a police officer with the White Bear Lake Police Department. Magnuson is a past vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police Minnesota Lodge 10, and an adviser for the Alexandria Technical College Law Enforcement Club.
